Still not entirely convinced that marriage is a good idea for *anyone*.

A very nice movie/advert/propaganda none the less. I guessed that the "camera" was male within a few seconds and enjoyed the narrative/tale of their relationship. But then I guess I am not the target audience.

But that's an entirely different question. After all, there's plenty of reason to think alcohol is not good for people, but we don't make laws about subsets of the adult population not being allowed to drink it.

I'm not arguing against the video in any way. I do NOT believe the current legal impediments to same sex marriage are good for society or morally right.

"We" do have quite extensive laws to try and prevent alcoholism. In the UK we have licensing laws and opening hours. The US tried its experiment with prohibition. But as you say they are not applied to a subset of people but everyone. (Well ok, they are different for minors).

I didn't think you were. But the point is irrelevant to the case at hand. So is the case of minority. One gets over that.

The only point is whether it is right to prohibit any single group of people from enjoying the rights of the rest of the people, when there is no opting out of that group (we will avoid here any spurious discussion of whether people can choose to have a sex change, 'pass' for another race, etc.).
