you would think that as a politician you are a smart person...and you have some idea of a good selling spot and a bad one...and you factor in how much money you're spending everyday when it airs on tv....you'd THINK they'd understand the difference between good actors and BAD ones

Are you sure it isn't just the target audience. It's sad to say but in some ways incompetence and stupidity win votes due to the "average joe" appeal. I'v seen numerous ad's that do nothing but annoy me but that's because the ad is clearly targeted towards another group.
