Music Ramblings

I have GOT to find some job that centers around music. Damn it. I feel like in some way, shape, or form...my fate is to do something in that area. I can't fucking just have it as a hobby. It's getting way too intense. Typical day-I leave a winamp playlist running in my room at ALL times, then the car music, then work-juke music, then back to home, ( Read more... )

I can't really stomach much of what I hear about the industry either, but I'm treasing into as dark of waters as anyone else.

Think of it this way, at least you'd have the power to bring notice to the few invenive artists that get signed each year.

Good luck. Zero 7 is damn great.

Good point...about the "power to bring notice.." I just wish I could do that with a smaller uncorporate place and still make a decent living doing what I love.

Then go do it, girl. You have that talent and knowledge. Remember what we talked about last week. It's okay to make work out of your passion. Like me watching movies. I hope you will send me some new music. I always enjoy being broadened.

Thank you for the encouragement :) I need all the motivation I can get!
It was soooo good to see you two this week. I really enjoyed getting to sit down and visit, and I can't wait until ya'll come back! Besides, I need to redeem myself for letting ben steal the win from me in Settler's.

This could be an exciting new turn - try to make it real! That's been a big topic of the past week - taking dreams and making them real. So, that's pretty much the train of thought that Chad and I are on now, Ben and Ash too, jump on! You never know what you might find if you just go to monster or somewhere like that and search music jobs... Speaking of new music, you should download Scissor Sisters (or get the CD from us). It's cool and funny.

I hear you. I'm the exact same way with music - I need it constantly around me all the time. When I was in college, I majored in Radio. I figured I could become a radio programmer and constantly introduce people to music. However, by the time I graduated, radio had become so regulated and dull (thanks Clear Channel!) that I knew I would be miserable in that field - having to listen to the same damn Good Charlotte song day in and day out - so I walked away from it. It would be great if someone could just walk into the perfect job, music-wise, but it doesn't work that way - it seems.

Anyways, I feel what you're saying. I totally love introducing people to new music and there are few things on earth I love as much as having something introduced to me. One thing you may want to do is pick up the latest copies of Uncut, Mojo and Q (they're usually at Borders or Barnes and Noble). They're British music magazines that usually come with cd's of people who aren't big in America yet.

You also may want to get to know passenger86. He usually has the ( ... )
