Things I loved:
- Harvey. Just, Harvey.
- Harvey being snarky and omniscient
- adorable Harvey talking to Olivia (the little girl)
- the Harvey/Louis conflict - it makes a lot of sense and is really well-written
- the hilarious exchange between Sheila and Louis at the lunch date
- Donna being all-knowing and fixing things
- Harvey immediately jumping to Mike's defense to get Maria fired
- the slightly painful but awesome exchange between Louis and Jessica, because Jessica is awesome and the conflict here was also excellently done
- Harvey jumping to Mike's defense /again/ and hiring Katrina
- Harvey finally telling Mike off for being a little shit
Things I disliked:
Oh, god, so many things, strangely. I still love this show, but I wanted to punch so many people.
- Mike. Such a fucking moron. In all the ways. I have no words. Pretty much nothing he did this episode was okay. He did so many things that just went against common sense and decency. He's /still/ causing Harvey tons of trouble and not appreciating how much Harvey does for him. He fucks around and can't make up his mind about what he wants. He threatened a lawyer who may have been shady but was just doing his job (which is probably going to come back to haunt him later). He took Katrina's bribe, broke attorney-client privilege, and being the biggest hypocrite in the world by saying "no one will notice I'm high, I do it every day" right before he meets a client, who he then judges for doing the same thing. He bitches out the client and Tess and Harvey (multiple times) when he himself deserves a bitching out.
- Rachel. Mike only won the "how much I hated them" contest against her because he did more dumb shit. I didn't think I could like her any less than I already did, but this show has proven me wrong. I know the show is making her into Mike's ultimate girl and doesn't want her to just accept Mike's romantic relationships with other people, but her being mysteriously bitchy about /everything ever/. I get that she's pissed about Mike, but she says "you're a douche for sleeping with someone else after I rejected you" AND "but I'm totally a dark sexy deep person who's had an affair" in the same breath while feeling like she has some sort of moral superiority--and that's what makes her a bitch.
- Tess, who I didn't actually /hate/, but definitely didn't like. I felt a little bad for her because Mike was a douche to her, but she's still kind of a slut who's really bad for Mike.
- Katrina, who, again, I didn't hate, but is kind of a bitch. I disliked her less than the other women because she had no cliche romantic interactions and told Mike off like he deserved for violating privilege. She was still kind of irritating though, with her posturing at Harvey and her demand to join Pearson Hardman.
- Harvey/Zoe. I don't hate Zoe entirely, but I find that entire relationship kind of...forced and out of left field. I mean, I get that Harvey likes her, but his sudden switch to sweet, non-womanizer boy-next-door lover is just, I dunno, illogically fast? I will fully admit this may be related to me not having seen all of the previous eps in S2.
- Essentially I get the sense that Suits writes terrible cliche predictable romances with template female characters, and any attempt at romance is way subpar compared to the sizzling snappy non-romantic dialogue during the /actual law parts/, which coincidentally is the part I actually care about. Rachel is the ultimate girl that the guy is supposed to work his way toward, Jenny was the best friend's girl that the guy always had a thing for, Tess is the unattainable childhood friend, Zoe is the old flame that would've been the "one"...all of these people are so /cliche/. Pretty much the only woman who's a love interest who I actually like is Sheila, and it's largely because her romantic(ish) relationship is with Louis and therefore is meant to be largely comedic and doesn't need to be as typically romantic or dramatic.
- I also didn't really like Maria, who was a giant self-entitled bitch, though that was kind of intention, I think.
So, a rundown for this episode...
People I loved: Harvey, Jessica, Donna, Louis, Sheila
People I did not love: Mike, Rachel, Tess, Zoe, Maria, Katrina
Summary: Mike does dumb shit. There are a fuckton of women all of a sudden, of which Jessica and Donna are still awesome, and almost everyone else is annoying, cliche, or both. Sheila and Louis are hilarious. Harvey saves Mike's ass and is awesome, but Mike keeps doing dumb shit. All Mike's women are pissy, and Zoe is given a personal tragedy to make us like her. Mike is still dumb.
