Resistance 54//Rebellion mail to all members of Hearts

Jan 04, 2012 14:51

The front of the envelope reads:

You will have one hour to read this message before it destroys itself. After you have finished, please place it facedown on a flat surface. Do not put it in your pocket.

-Burn Notice

[Inside the envelope the recipients will find a note written in dense, but not hard to read, cursive handwriting. On the back is a complex little design, a pentagram with small interlacing tendrils covering the entire back of the sheet, and small runic script around the outer ring. After an hour, the note will begin to crumple and turn to ash as if it had been thrown in a fire, reducing it to a blackened powder in a matter of seconds]

Members of Hearts,

The previous leader of section has been unexpectedly removed from his station, and I have been appointed to take his place. Looking at our goal, as information gathering wing of the rebellion, I am putting into place a few new standard procedures to be focused on keeping tabs on possibly dangerous people imprisoned in the facility, with particular attention paid to those holding conversations with our captor.

New Arrival Screening: This is a procedure that all of you will be expected to take part in. As you know, new guests are arriving all the time, both potential allies and potentially dangerous enemies. Whenever a new prisoner arrives, I want at least one member of HEARTS to strike up a conversation. Multiple people usually chime in to get them settled, but I want these conversations to focus on their past, their homeworlds and their skills. You will initiate conversation with the phrase "You must be confused," in order to keep other members of HEARTS informed that you have this particular person covered. If there is anyone else present from the same world as the new arrival, I also expect a follow up conversation with them to see if you can find out additional information on the new person. Short reports on each new arrival should be delivered to me, and they will be passed along to DECK leadership as well. This way we will be able to identify possibly dangerous arrivals when they are at their most disoriented, and put new friends to use as soon as possible.

VAL contact reports: As you probably already know, Val is capable of keeping her conversations locked in such a way that none of us can view them. However, she does not perfectly lock down the original posts made by people wishing to contact her. Any communication with Val needs to be carefully monitored, and anytime a post goes out to Val I want a report sent out through the rebellion mail system to all members of HEARTS. When you receive such a report, you are to observe the behavior of the poster to try and figure out the reason for the contact. Often, people strike deals with VAL in order to obtain favors, or missing body parts, and these deals can make an ordinarily harmless guest extremely dangerous. No information is to shared with anyone who contacts VAL until that contact is officially cleared by myself or a higher ranking member of DECK.

That will be all for now, HEARTS. Other than that, I have nothing else to say except to keep our role in mind. We are the information gatherers, the informants of the rebellion. Do not hesitate to make anything you learn known to DECK, and remember that we do not directly engage with threats in this suit. Of all the members of the rebellion, you are the ones most likely to have sensitive information that would be dangerous if it fell into our captors' hands.

Be safe, be cautious, be vigilant.

-Burn Notice
