"Uh. Hey, Helion. I'm fine! I'm just fine!"
He tries to smile, but it... doesn't quite work, making him look sheepish.

As she activated her halo and prepared to fly down, she tried to figure out what could be bothering John. She didn't know much about the boy, but she put together a basic idea based on what she remembered of his friends and the observations list. By the time she had finally gotten down to the same level as John, she felt pretty certain what the problem was, but unsure how to put it.
"Um, if something's bothering you, I don't mind doing trying to help you with it... If you don't want to talk about it, you don't have to, but..."

John tried to laugh, he really does. Again, it seems to fall flat of John standards.
"Nothing's really bothering me too much, really...! I'm fine!

Anyway, she was snoring a bit, and this is still exactly what she was doing (reasonably loudly) as John walked by!

...That's strange. He's gonna go maybe shake her and see if her narcolepsy can stop for a few moments. This seems pretty odd!

"Hi John!!!"
...It took her a few moments before she remembered what she'd been doing before she fell asleep, and instantly she broke the hug, flipping around and staring down the alleyway cautiously.

He starts trying to wander the maze, suddenly trying to figure how the hell to get out. It was a maze, right? Get to the end, you're done!

"Oh shit! Crap shit shit crap!"
As John stumbled over his own two feet, he tried to deal with the monsters trying to eat him and the fire - he was starting to sweat, and one wrong move... and he'd literally be toast!

While the guy may have been a stranger, that forlorn empty gaze Jet recognized all too clearly.
"Hey there, Somethin' you need?"
Reply
"Wha... uh... not. really. I guess..."
John sheepishly answered that, as if part of him wanted to explain but part of him was wary and wanted to keep it to himself, like he had been.

Terezi stepped out into the street in front of John, maneuvering around to the broad side of a hay-cart. She rested her elbow against the wooden rim, while her other arm was held out, cane extended to touch the building on the opposite side. Path forward: obstructed.
"Wow, John. That's a pretty long face you have there. Did someone kick your puppy?"

Another no doubt familiar voice called out from behind him, followed by muffled footsteps. Granted the dark blue gown Vriska was wearing didn't do a lot for intimidation, but she'd been occupied. Cut her some slack. Anyway, when she was close enough, she barred John's exit with her robotic arm and a toothy grin. Anybody who'd encountered that arm lately would know that it meant business. Path backward: obstructed.
"Someone insulted Nicolas Cage."

"...Vriska? Terezi? What's going on...?" John blinked, frowning. Something in the back of his mind was nagging him about it, but today hadn't been a good day for thinking on his part.

Where there had previously been just a smile, a grin was now stretched across Terezi's lips. She wasn't moving from her spot, but she wasn't lowering her cane, either. She was simply content with making him incredibly nervous. For now.
