Holymoly, everything has exploded lately. Since it's quicker to organise this ooc, I'll post this all up now so I know what to play out IC ( Read more... )

I would gladly put Kimblee down there to learn more about advanced tech, he can be mighty helpful with repairs and would probably be a pretty quick learner. I'd definitely CR him coming down there trying to learn a thing or two and see what happens.

Komui's happy to teach and he'd be interested in what the alchemical side can bring to the situation.

Does Kimblee's alchemy allow him to know the chemical constituents of a material by alchemising it, or does he learn that first and them apply the knowledge to working his alchemy?

I'm pretty positive it doesn't, alchemy is broken down into three steps; understanding, decomposing, and reconstructing. wWhen an alchemist tries a transmutation on something that isn't what he expects it to be, the reaction basically fails and nothing happens. This happens multiple times in the series, but every time an alchemist tries a transmutation and it fails he learns a lot about the material he's working with, making the process of trial and error rather short. Also alchemists have the option to stay in the "understanding" phase of a transmutation for as long as they can maintain the concentration and also have the option to stop a transmutation completely at the decomposition phase, rendering whatever he was transmuting into usually a fine powder/liquid of the elements it was originally composed of.

If nothing else they can stick Kimblee near a mass spectrometer and get him to vapoourise samples of all the exotic goods.

Inara's down there, gently trying to keep Komui on track as well as working on her own minor projects. She's getting to know the systems pretty well, after rerouting them a couple times, and she's been working with the bots to find and investigate the technology and equipment available.

Jenny's more then happy to provide a little extra electrical power if the engineering group needs it. All they have to do is ask.

"Jenny! My favourite Century! Come here and hold this wire for the next half hour."

Just leave her a pack of cigarettes and a pot of coffee and she'll do it.

Wally here isn't a genius when it comes to designing things, but he's got a lot of brains in the science department and can build things in a tenth of the time it would normally take. I think getting him involved in the engineering department would be good for him. He needs the distraction and science is his favorite subject.

He sounds like he'd be a useful person to have.

Perhaps his focus in the team could be on repair and upkeep, so he can apply that mind to understanding the technology that exists rather than designing new parts?

Rita here is essentially the smartest person on her home planet and is a genius when it comes to things like chemistry, physics, energy, the magics, and all those good formulas. She's developed and designed quite a few impressive, world altering pieces of technology in her time (Oftentimes as soon as breakfast) and has been spending her first few weeks here getting used to the technology of Alpha Omega. She already offered to help out Stark with applying new power sources to the station, so helping out with other designs and tasks probably wouldn't be too much of a stretch. She's smart enough to handle just about anything, but specializes in magical applications (Barriers, power sources, conduits, elemental based contraptions etc.) rather than more practical machinery fare (Robots, vehicles, large scale mechanics). She's also pretty reluctant to work on any sort of weapon because's she's very against using technology as a means for arms.

So yeah, her services are up for hire! I've been looking to have her bug Komui at some point

Bugging is always welcome! She'll be great to have on the team.

In that case she wouldn't be put on most of the projects liasioning with defence, since quite a bit of that would involve planning practical ways to kill large numbers of Consortium invaders.

How does she feel about shielding against attacks, or spying on the population inside the station?
