Ubuntu 14 was not nearly as 'interesting' with Network Manager.

I have no idea what happened with your wireless interfaces, I guess, some duplicate names combined with the changed persistent naming system. The old (udev-based) one was pretty bad, too, it accumulates ethn names when devices with various MAC addresses are installed.
The problem I have encountered is much more serious -- since Network Manager only understands VPNs when they run over a connection it manages, VPNs are all broken after the upgrade.

Если Network Manager не считает, что управляет соединением по USB, он отказывается запускать поверх него VPN, и я не могу достучаться на работу. А если использую Wifi -- то могу, потому что Network Manager им сам управляет, но дополнительно добавлять Wifi только для того, чтобы Network Manager понял -- бред, если уже есть USB.
