Who: EVERYONE!!!
Where: Angie's house.
When: After shift.

Angie had gotten to thinking after her conversation with Greg, how far apart everyone at the labs had grown. She was going to try her best to get everyone together, call her house neutral ground and perhaps everyone could get along, at least for one night. With everything that they dealt ( Read more... )

Grissom was beginning to think he'd gotten his wires crossed. He knew Angie had wanted to talk to him, but now he was wondering if he'd missed something else. She had left him a message about coming over, and he thought it was because of what she'd wanted to talk to him about. Now....now it looked like a party. Thank God he was the first there. Maybe he could take care of what Angie needed, and then go before he brought the festivities down.

"Hey Angie. I'm sorry I didn't bring anything. I got your message." Grissom stepped in, and stood off to the side, waiting to see what she was going to do. He felt uncomfortable, and slightly out of place.

Angie smiled and closed the door motioning for Grissom to follow her to the kitchen. She walked in, turned off the burners and spun to face her boss.

"Don't worry about it. I think I've got everything covered." She smiled. "I wanted to talk to you about the reporters. One of them started digging a little to far into our personal lives. I made a decision to get her to stop, which I should have talked to you about before offering, about maybe doing an anti-domestic violence piece about my relationship with Josh."

Angie glanced up at Grissom before going back to fiddle with her apron, "I know it'd expose me and where I am and I might be putting myself at risk. I really feel like this would help me get past this, and I could even help other women in the process. I wanted to make sure I had your approval as my boss." She paused to make solid eye contact with him. "And as my friend."

Grissom blinked a couple times. "Are you sure you want to do this? We can keep an eye on you at work, but when you are home....I don't think David Hodges makes an effective bodyguard." Grissom wasn't too happy about her decision, but he was even more shocked that she thought she had to clear it with him. As her supervisor, her personal life was none of his concern. As a friend and almost lover, that gave him a little more say in the matter, but in the end it was her decision ( ... )

Angie was mentally shaking her head, but waited until Grissom finished talking before she actually shook it. "That's just continuing with how I've been since I left him. I'm scared all the time, I don't think you can understand how that feels, that maybe, everytime I go to open the door, every creak in the house is him. You remember how I was when I had that nightmare I had, that's only a piece, Gil." She spoke softly, looking him in the eyes.

"I'm sick of being scared. I just want to have a normal life. I'm only twenty-five. My life shouldn't feel like it's over. With Josh on my mind all the time, that's how it feels." Angie looked at him, glassy-eyed. She had so much more she wanted to talk to him about, but this looked like it would be it, she didn't want to start more drama for Grissom, he looked drained enough from her just bringing that up.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be snappy." She looked at him and sighed. "I never got to say congradulations on the baby. How is he and Sara? How are you for that matter?"

Greg knocked on the door to Angie's house, Nick standing beside him, a bag of chips sheepishly tucked under one arm, which just screamed that he completely forgot to pick up anything for her get-together until they were halfway there in his Jetta. He ran a hand through his hair and shook his head, glaring in Nick's direction.

"I don't care what you say, Spiderman could beat Superman out any day. He is clearly the better superhero. He at least has the intelligence to cover his face when he goes into his costume. I never understood how Superman got away with that.."

Nick rolled his eyes.
"Just because he's smarter at hiding his identity doesn't mean he's better. What does he do? Shoot webs out of his arms and swing from them. Amazing." He gave Greg a pointed look. "He's nothing without his precious skyscrapers. I'd like to see him save someone in the desert."
He's had this argument with Greg millions of times, and it never seemed to be over. He knew that once Angie finally decided to answer her door they would stop the argument, but a few days later they would just pick up where they left off.
The sad thing was, Nick actually liked their pointless bickering.

Angie had just let Lizzy into the backyard when she heard a solid knock on her front door. She skittered past Grissom in the kitchen to the front door, sliding to it.

She opened the door and smiled to see the pair. "Hey guys! Greg, didn't I say not to bring anything? We have this problem everytime I have a get-together." She grinned, ushering them in.

"Grissom's in the kitchen, since a few more of us are here I guess we can move to the living room, I'll finish up cooking. You guys can snack, it might be a little while till the sause is done, give time for everyone else to get here." She smiled and led them to the kitchen, forgetting for a moment they'd been at her house a few times before.

Right on cue the door opened, and Nick and Greg's argument had been put on hold once again.
They followed her inside, and he tried to hide a grin as she spoke. She reminded him so much of his mother.
When she mentioned Grissom was in the kitchen, his steps faltered a bit.
Well, of course Grissom was going to be here, he didn't know why he'd expected him not to be.
He cleared his throat and tried to put on a smile. "Thanks for having us over Ang. I haven't had a decent home cooked meal in weeks."

Angie laughed at Greg's question, "Psh. Neither, Batman beats both of 'em." She smirked as they followed her towards the kitchen.

She watched Nick's reaction carefully to her mention of their boss, it didn't look to promising, but he didn't look mad, just a little shocked.

"Already have it punched in, just need to hit send." She whispered back jokingly, though it wasn't a bad idea. With Sara possibly on the way, things were liable to get out of hand but Angie was thinking on the bright side, as usual.

"Oh, drinks are in the fridge by the way, guys." Angie said, as she reclaimed hers that was sitting in the kitchen next to Grissom.

Angie then paused, wiggling her way past Grissom back to her stove to cook, and listen in, as the guys talked.

Drinks sounded great. Especially if he was going to try to be civil.
"Hi Grissom." He greeted without looking at him as he passed.
He made it to the fridge and opened it up.
He immediatly reached for the nearest beer.
"You want anything, G?"

"Hey Griss." Greg said brightly when he saw the older man in the kitchen, giving him a smile and a wave as he walked over, dipping into a bowl of pretzels. "Say Spiderman, Superman and Batman are in a fight. Who would win?" He asked him, with a quizzical expression on his face.

He could hear the coldness in Nick's voice as he greeted their boss, and he tried to shake it off by grabbing himself another handful of snacks. "A beer would be nice, man. Thanks." He called over to the fridge, munching nervously on a pretzel.

Grissom took the greeting from Nick for what it was, an attempt to be polite, and not be polite. But then again, what did he expect? Open arms? "Hello gentlemen." That was the only way he could think to greet them that wouldn't show favoritism. All he needed was a fight on his hands tonight, being involved in one was not part of his plans. He took another swig of his beer, and waited to see what would happen.

"Spiderman or Superman? Are those the only choices I get. If it was based on name, I'd be inclined to lean to Spiderman, because I'm biased. If it was all about superpowers, I think Superman could turn him into pulp. If it was solely on problem solving without either powers or gadgets, then I'd have to go with Han Solo." Grissom smiled. It was a little bit of silliness, and a logical answer wouldn't have covered it.

Grissom tried to suck it up, pretend it didn't hurt. Greg stormed off, and Nick followed him. Now he was stuck to deal with the backlash of his irrational words. He tried to get up off the floor, but he was a little unsteady. He looked up at Angie from his seat on the floor. "I'm so sorry. I don't know why I pushed him. He was in need of a little wake up call, but not like that."

Grissom felt miserable, and wished he'd gone home when he first had the inkling to do so.

Angie managed to duck out of the way before Nick swung at Grissom. She yelled at the two a few times before she heard her name spoken. She spun to see Greg leaving the room and Nick running after him. What Grissom had said and what had happened before her eyes didn't really register, but she was with Greg on this one, she needed a walk. Angie desperately wanted to walk away and be angry with Grissom and Nick but she couldn't resist the compulsion to help her boss.

She sighed, looking at him, her eyes filled with disappointment as she went to her counter, grabbing a towel, wetting it in the sink and kneeling down next to him.

"Lean your head back and relax." Angie said calmly, she ignored his apology, not ready to accept it just yet. She applied some pressure, wiping away the blood that had trickled down with another rag.

"You're our supervisor, I wouldn't have thought that was something you'd want to model." She couldn't help but getting in a comment, she was upset, this was the last thing she'd wanted the night to end with.

Grissom leaned his head back as was ordered. She applied first aid to his bloody nose, and to his soul, but not the way he'd expected. It shifted from Grissom vs Nick to Everyone vs Grissom in the matter of his big mouth flapping ( ... )

"I'm sorry, Grissom. That was uncalled for, I'm just... floored. You are my friend, even though you just screwed up big time. It makes it easier for me to call you my supervisior, it's easier to distance myself from you that way." She sighed, looking at him, glassy eyed. "I don't know why everything has to be so screwed up with all of us. I don't understand Gil, you hit the nail dead on right there. I don't understand any of this."

She looked at him, her eyes questioning, she threw her hands up, "I don't understand why Nick and Greg couldn't have just stayed the perfect couple. I don't understand why David and me can't work. I don't understand why you and Sara can't work." She looked off, her voice catching with each word, she had to hold back tears. "I don't understand why I fell in love with you. I don't understand anything anymore Grissom."

Angie didn't realize what she'd said, she just sat on her kitchen floor her head hung, shaking her head as she tried to hold back tears.
