Hmm...How do you decide which voice to write in? First, Second or Third or omnivesant??

I admit that I still get confused in which choice viewpoint that is easiest for me to use. I've used first person POV for "Sacrilege," and for "Forbidden Fruit,' but because it's easier to explain the motives and hidden emotions for the main character I'm writing about ( Read more... )

*pats*

I use third a lot because I often write in unpopular or not well known fandoms. If I don't describe the characters, no one will know who I'm talking about! *lol*

Switching first person POVs can be fun. Lets you get into your hero's heads more.

I've always been fascinated by first person POV, but I have a hard time writing it, so I tend to stay away from it. I am more of a third person writer because I like to practice working on my descriptions of areas and characters, and delving into their feelings. I don't feel like I've got a proper grasp on them yet but I have come a long way.

What it all comes down to is what you're comfortable with as a writer.

I'm not a fan of fics that change point of views from first person to third. If a fic is going to have first person POV's they should be consistently used. For example- your fic where you alternate POV's...I like those fics; you're right- not only can the writer better get into their character's head but the reader does too I think! It's just my opinion but it's all POV or none- I have trouble with fics that have both. One of my older fics does that in one chapter and it bothers me (I guess that's why I'm rewriting the whole thing, lol)

I guess that's one reason I like first person- I hate describing things because I'm not good at it. I also will start a story and sometimes wonder what POV I'm in, LOL!
