It takes me about an 1.5 hours to get to work in the morning.  Transantiago, the transit system which includes the metro, had a major makeover recently and it has compromised the Chilean people.  I won´t get into too much detail but basically everyone has resorted to using the Metro to get to work.  This has made traveling to Santiago so much more  ( Read more... )

I taught my first class today.....

It's only 1 class with 1.5 hours with a man named Victor but its a start.  I was extremely nervous as I always am.

One reason for being nervous was that I haven't taught English for 1.5 years (and I haven't lost it.  Just needed a re-fresher) and that this person is over the age of 18!  Adults freaked me out...not ( Read more... )

I'm sitting at a Starbucks with coffee in hand contemplating my next move.  Fuck this coffee tastes good.  (Chileans are more into their tea than coffee).  No work and all play is a lifestyle I can become accustomed to.  Especially with this Chilean 'island mentality'.  I'm feeling a little lost as these past couple of months have been completely ( Read more... )

I'm in a hotel room in downtown Santiago over looking the city.  It's not a great view and everything seems gray...but my eyes need time to adjust.  Ryan left today.  He's on his way home to my beloved Canada that I miss so dearly right now.  Traveling for over a month can make you tired.  Yes, it's hard to believe but it does.  I'm now overwhelmed ( Read more... )

 I can't believe I've been traveling for 9 days and it's only 25% completed.  I'm in Cuzco right now and I've seen some incredible things.  Here's some history for you....Cuzco was an old Inca city that was destroyed by the conquistadors.  The spanish rebuilt using the Inca's infrastructure.  It's pretty awesome as you can still see some of the ( Read more... )
