The main road winds through Manuel Antonio starting high above where the fancier hotels with the sweeping views are located down to the beach and terminates at the entrance to the national park. Costa Rica - day 4
The plan for the day was to get up ridiculously early, go for a hike to the waterfall, have breakfast, then head to Manuel Antonio. Through heroic efforts we got ourselves up at 6am and found coffee and tea waiting for us on the porch. I never want to run a hotel. Can you imagine how early those people get up?

Costa Rica - day 3
Since we did not rent a car we had to find creative ways of getting around. Mostly our creativity was limited to taking taxis or buses. Though our hostel had modern amenities such as private bathroom, ac and (almost) hot water, it lacked comfortable bedding. Sleep eluded me all night, which surprisingly made it easy to get up early in the morning. We grabbed a taxi to get us to the trailhead of a hike towards the La Fortuna Waterfall. My first stab at adventure travel turned out quite well. Mostly because my companions were more adventurous than me, spoke Spanish and were generally skilled at navigating the complexities of the trip.
