Oh Cleardear. I missed you so. <3 Your little icon came up in my e-mail and my heart skipped a beat.
I'm settling, but not as fast as I would like. There've been some complications, but I think it'll all work out. Today I'm getting a bunch of furniture delivered, and it'll make me feel less displaced, I think, so have spaces and places to put things.
Oh my gosh. With underoos and real, legit FURNITURE you are on the fast-track to becoming real, legit city-folk! It must be nice finally having your own place again, decorating it to your tastes, and a Jooniper-Lee to cuddle with once more. And maybe even... you are filling the apartment with GOOD ART?? The type where people stare at the wall, and then declare THIS IS GOOD ART?
I missed choo too. LIKE SERIOUSLY, and I'm glad your back, ALC. <3
Clear, we need to arrange an MSN date, please. I imagine, because you a student-type, that you are maybe on some kind of Easter break or something, so PLZ COME BACK TO ME and perchance you could, as we said in the old days, GET YOUR ASS ONLINE so we can chitty chat chat.
OH HO HO--I've been filling my apartment with MY OWN ART because I have it on hand and it's already framed, lawlz. Conceited? Maybe. Available? Yes, ma'am. *hammers into the wall*
Ah, I've noticed that you have been gone, too, Eldr. BUT LIKE YOUR ICON DEPICTS, PERCHANCE WE SHALL BE REUNITED, HERE, ON THE INTERNET, SHOWERING TEARS OF JOY AND HEARTACHE UPON EACH OTHER. <3 <3 <3
I've been taking everything a day at a time. It's been stressful, but good for me, I think.
My neighborhood is safe, but not totally gentrified and flowers and rainbows, which is kind of how I like it. I do wish there were more bars / restaurants around here, but I can just go a few stops up for that. I work in Soho, which I feel is like a goldmine for hole-in-the-wall...everything. Amazing places to eat and shop.
I have a friend that I usually hang out with on Saturdays and we'll wake up on Sunday after our shenanegins and order bagels and coffee...DELIVERED. <3 <3 <3 One thing about New York is that you walk everywhere, but good jesus, you can get EVERYTHING delivered. My jam is: toasted everything bagel with scallion cream cheese, lettuce, tomato, sprouts, and a slice of turkey. IT IS LIKE EATING HEAVEN.
Today I spent all day assembling furniture and I still have my dresser to tackle tomorrow but I AM SO TIRED RIGHT NOW. All my muscles ache. IKEA, YOU ARE SO CHEAP BUT ASSEMBLING YOU IS MURDER.
It sounds like your neighborhood is just perfect. Safe, but a little banged up around the edges perhaps (like a comfy pair of old jeans, not like I imagine Texans' closets, full of pressed and starched jeans fresh from the cleaners - I kid you not about that
( ... )
An old pair of jeans is a good way to describe it! A little worn, but very comfortable.
My third or fourth week here, it was raining heavily but my friend and I had been wanting to go to this seafood restaurant for AGES and AGES, and I wasn't giving up on my seafood date!! So we pressed on, even in the torrential rain, and in less than a second I was on the ground with two skinned knees. KNEE BOO BOOS. I haven't had scraped knees since I was 10 years old, lol. But, the seafood was worth it, and my leggings didn't rip, somehow. :3
I love IKEA, too!! So cheap. People always rip the quality, but I don't know if they jump on their furniture or what--I've never had a problem with it breaking apart or anything like that.

Thank goodness. Because I was seriously having some ALC-withdrawals there. I hope you're settling into your new life as city-folk. :3

Don't worry though--I've got plenty of underoos.
