I'll be MIA for awhile, because my grandfather passed away yesterday morning, after an incredible 95 years of life. I’m sad, but take relief that he isn’t suffering anymore. I’ve been lucky, and there haven’t been many deaths in my family. Yesterday,I lost my last grandparent. My mom has no living parents now. When this happens, it makes me ( Read more... )

Oh, Ali, you and your family my sympathy for your loss. *hugs* My grandpa is also in his nineties and cannot do much of what he loved, so I totally understand where you're coming from. I'm sure your grandfather is doing exactly what you wrote, and having a grand time of it.

Ah, thank you Seoi!! Like I said, there is definitely an overall feeling of sadness, but we really are celebrating his very long happy life. If only we are so lucky to live as long and to see all the things he did. <3

Seriously. He loved to build things. When Gaga says "my grandfather is looking down on us now," I'd like to think my grandpa is, but I really think he's busy with the shed, haha. <3

Oh hello honey I am responding to your e-mail right now. <3 Thank you for being there, you're a darling. Like I said, it is more a feeling of relief that he is no longer suffering and I am happy he lived a very, very long life.

Ninety-five is a impressive age indeed, and hence must mean your grand pa pa lived a long and impressive life.

I'm sorry for your loss, ALC, but at the same time am in slight awe at the moment by your grandfather's legacy. He must have been a very great man (and probably on his 5th shed by the time of this comment), and your post makes a very beautiful and loving tribute.

Ah, Clear--you always seem to understand my feelings about things very...clearly, for lack of better words. :)

He lived a good, long life, and I feel like we can all only hope for so much.

I'm really sorry for your loss. My condolences to you and your family, Ali. D: Perhaps he's not with your grandma in heaven? I believe that.

Thank you, darling. My grandma went a long time ago--I think he's outlived her by almost 15 years! I'm sure he's building her a shed right now... <3

Perhaps he's not with your grandma in heaven?

Jeez, what is wrong with me? I meant he's with, no not.

Very romantic!

Sorry to hear about your loss, Ali-- I'll keep you and your family in my thoughts. I am glad to hear your grandfather had quite the life, and that is funny that he liked Lady Gaga too. :)

Thanks, Rei rei. I'm still unsure about my feelings re: afterlife, but I know that he believed in it, and that's enough for me to believe he's in a good happy place. With powertools.
