WOAH

Okay so I didn’t think it would be a great idea to post my thoughts on HBP so soon after reading it because that would have been a six page-long rant along the lines of ‘WHERE THE FUCK IS MY PARVATI?’ and ‘EW H/G *THROWS UP*’.

But now I’ve calmed down a bit(ish).

It was a great book, naturally. In fact, take away the crappy romance parts and the Mary-Sue!Ginny, and it would probably replace POA as my favourite. The mortifying lack of Parvati though…that hurt. That hurt a lot.

Dumbledore. Fabulous. In this instalment, I loved him like the grandfather I never had (was it odd that after Snape killed him, I felt sick and couldn’t breathe properly?) His death sucked, but I have to admit it was necessary in order for Harry to step into his lonely role as leader. Poor baby. JKR better give him the happiest damn ever after ever, because that’s the least he deserves.

And Harry really has matured. I don’t care if the development was too rushed, I was just relieved there was no more embarrassing drama queen moments. Like, just thinking about Dan Radcliffe having to do the Dumbledore’s office scene in OotP after Sirius dies makes me cringe. So there was still the occasional dumb thing (when will Harry actually start LISTENING to Hermione’s theories?) and WTF he’s suddenly in love with Ginny and can’t be with her but whatever. For the first time, I liked him from beginning to end.

The strange thing about HBP was that the characters I used to adore aren’t the same, and I started to like a few that had previously annoyed me. Harry and Luna are examples of the latter. Luna is my new hero, she rocks so much. Draco was everything I could have possibly hoped for (considering my only other wishes were for him to fall madly in obsessive love with Ron/Ginny). He was cowardly, mean, proud and still quite amusing. Cheers, JK.

But seriously, I don’t like this Ginny. Could it be jealousy on behalf of my woefully absent Queen (Parvati)? Could it be that Ginny has suddenly turned into un-Asian (thus, obviously less cooler :P) Cho Chang before the Cedric dying thing? She hasn’t really developed, she’s just lost something…I wish I could pinpoint what. Give me a few more days to process. Right now, Ginny just seems like some girl who turned into a slut to make Harry Potter jealous-and it worked. Woop-dee. Somebody get me a drink.

Bill/Fleur=wonderful. Ginny/Blaise=YAY! The R/Hr was nice, too. But would Hermione really go out with some horrible molester to make Ron jealous? I never thought she would sink to that level. The Tonks/Remus was…okay. If you must. Lupin was fully head over heels for Sirius, but fine. I knew HBP would ruin all my shipping dreams. Just, give me a few weeks to grow up and get past this.

Not bitter or anything, of course…wait, yes I am. Us romance connoisseurs, we can’t take this shite!

Snape…well, I’m waiting to see. If he’s truly on Voldie’s side, I could believe it. If not, then it would certainly explain a few things. Like Dumbledore’s pleading, as if begging Snape to kill him. And then Snape going psychotic when Harry accuses him of being a coward. I mean, say that he wasn’t betraying Dumbledore: if Harry was in Snape’s position, would he have the guts to kill Dumbledore?

I think if he had truly acted on Dumbledore’s orders then we won’t see him trying to convince anyone of it in the next book. He’s going to give his life in a way that’s going to help save the Wizarding world and everyone will be like, ‘Oh. So he wasn’t a traitor in the end. Thanks Sev. Sorry for all that shit we gave you by the way, you slimy bastard.’

Basically, it was good but there were a few disappointments (HARRY/GINNY ARGH *pounds head into wall*). Bring on the GOF movie, I need the comfort of something familiar and loved. But I hope everyone enjoyed the book as much as I did, and thank you for allowing me to rant. You guys understand best :D

Blah. My mouse won't scroll sideways :(
