Oh Lord... if someone invites you to a "double engagement party bbq"... less than 2 weeks before the bbq, and you know one couple, the bride quite well, but the other couple... well I know them, we've hung out a few times, and I certainly wouldn't have been on their list of invitees had it not been a joint thing ( Read more... )

Tacky.....I would just buy one gift.....get them a toaster and if the other couple complain tell them they can go around for breakfast sometimes and that you thought they liked to share everything.

Uh, that is tacky! Unfortunately, I think you do have to bring two gifts. I would get the one couple you know something small but nice and the other couple a tiny gift card. That way you spend the same as one gift, but cover both.

no way. did they even issue you with a proper invitation, which said "blah blah invite ellie.. to celebrate their engagement party?" cause that would actually clear this up. i suppose they didn't do that. so tacky. you get the gift for the people who invited you. just one gift! gross.

even that seems extravagant. if people are going to forgo the formality of invitations, then why do we stick with the tradition of gift giving? gross.
