Speaking of avalanches... argylebutterfly March 18 2007, 15:12:28 UTC
I like your poems. I see you resist rhyme too -- a dangerously teenagerish strategy, but I think we pull it off.

On Edge (Cyclic) (from March 9)

An energy resonates down the sides of my face,
An unnerving buzz through temples to jaw, temples to jaw.

A shivering chill traces the shades of pressure
From clothing worn too lightly on the skin.

A pen wants to scribble and stab, and my hands
Match my legs in their twitching and tightening.

An attempt must be made to focus on resisting
Urges to physically or vocally unleash this tension.

A door is closed to violently in the distance,
An avalanche brings my head down through my lungs.

An anxiety deemed "manageable," induced by an insomnia
As deliberate as the coffee which exacerbates it.
An anxiety not remarkably unpleasant, though unsettling,
Because it wakes the average nerves into brilliance.

I really like the first of the 'leftovers'.
