alright, so im kinda bummed. i got my poems back from mr. young and in the poem we basically copied for him i was too 'cryptic' and in the poem which i felt i put the most work into and i thought was my best he said, and i qoute 'what the fuck is this' apperently my style of writing isnt good at all and that because its not about something soild ( Read more... )

I think that Mr. Young is a really harsh teacher. Even thought your poem may not have been about something physically solid, i think that it was mentally solid. Although I have not read the poem, from the little bit of your work that I have read I believe that it was mentally solid, and maybe that was just not quite what he was looking for. Maybe instead of you waiting for him to tell you want he did and didn't like, maybe you should go to him. That is if you want to know what he thinks. I personally love your poems and I think that you should keep writing in the way that you know best, the way that you want to, not the way that HE wants you to. Keep your head up, I know you'll do just fine in the end.

i think i will go talk to him about it. i have a spare tomorrow and i think ill see if hes willing to sit and talk about this. i just find the poetry he gives us boring, there may be some exciting lines but it doesnt 'grab' me as he says this part here should grab your attention. so i try to write so that everyline has the reader wondering and thinking, imagining, ect.

It was a good idea, i had a word with him and I have worked out what he meant and its basically what has been said on here already.
