Yeah, I thought so too, especially considering they were diabetic. They weren't really talking about restricting calories as much as choosing good food and exercise. I'd just always heard that it was important to gain something no matter how big you were beforehand.

How possible to do is it after you're pregnant, I wonder... doesn't the baby "ask" for certain things?

It's not important to gain, but it's important to eat well and eat enough. Your body will tell you if you're not eating enough (unless you have some sort of medical problem or eating disorder where you've learned to ignore those cues).

So... The problem I see is the old adage of "eating for two" when it's not that at all!
