Interesting - so Ed Milliband now says he http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-31906463wouldn't enter into a coalition with the SNP were there to be a hung parliament in May. The SNP have already said they won't enter into one with the Tories, and it seems highly unlikely the Lib-Dems would be willing to work with the Tories again ( Read more... )

It does have just an inkling of 'Grand Coalition' doesn't it. And ideologically Labour and the Tories are all pretty much on the same page these days - fuck the poor - sell off everything of value to your rich mates - laugh at the plebs who keep voting for you.

It would I think permanently end the Labour party though. A coalition with the Tories and Labour are finished in Scotland for several generations at least. And probably finished in... every other traditional Labour heartland throughout the north too?

Cue massive cynicism with both parties. And the continuing rise of UKIP...

Most likely thing I've seen so far is Lib/Lab coalition, with the SNP doing confidence/supply on the side.

I have to say that the idea of a party who, if all 45% of the Scottish population who voted Yes vote for them, have around 4% of the vote being the third largest party in parliament does point to some quite serious flaws in the system.
