It's sad that this IS one of the most cultured areas of the country. Personally, I spend as little time in Providence as I can.

As for the poser girls ... *snicker* ... I loved how in BHHS, my classmates kept bitching about me never having a girlfriend, went to mixers, etc. Starting in senior year, their own relationships crashed and burned -- so many it was like a firestorm. If it wasn't so sad I would have laughed -- looking at the kind of girls they chose, it was so obvious that it would happen.

Hendricken had more than its fair share of faux Italians / Brooklyners. Amusing, but tiresome.

....anyway, I blame a lot of this social climate on television. Clichéd though my suggestion may be, I still think it holds water. I could rant about that, but I've ranted enough. Thanks for listening.

well said. i don't think there are too many "cultured" places in the United States. yes, we do have theatres and musuems and historical places, but not the extent that Europe has.
although i do enjoy walking along the river in Providence. It reminds me of walking along the Seine in Paris or the Tevere in Rome.
