[Hymn #68] ~Staccato~

Mar 26, 2010 11:03

[Private; hackable to friends.]

((OOC: Response to this lovely conversation. I-I'm sorry! XD))

What a truly detestable person.
It's my job to assist civillians, regardless of how unpleasant they may seem, and yet I've never run into one before that was so... entirely unmanageable. It's as if he behaves that way on purpose. Why would anyone? ( Read more... )

luke, shopping?, tear is not happy, nall, tear is stuffy, april 1, venting, unmanageable civillians are not cool, painting easter eggs, soldier mode, re:nathan, guts, jaime, needs more training, easter

Someone bothering you, Tear?

I dunno what Easter is... what's this tradition you learned about? Is it fun?

Not particularly...

I was trying to assist one of the newer arrivals, but he was set on being difficult. I don't believe that he took me seriously at all. A skeptical attitude towards this place and a disrespectful attitude towards others can only mean trouble; he'll discover that soon enough, I suppose.

Ah, well it's actually quite a simple activity. Apparently in some cultures people will paint eggs for this holiday - that is after you hard boil them so that the shells won't crack.

I see. Showing up here can be kinda jarring... he'll adapt in time. We all do after a while...

Painting eggs, huh? That sounds kinda fun... something kids would enjoy, at any rate. I'll lend a hand if you still need it!

I certainly hope he adjusts rapidly...

[Aww, Nall. D: You just had to go and call it "fun for kids". Tear thought they were cute, now she's just kind of embarrassed.]

...ah, yes. I suppose it would. I'm not planning to do a great deal of shopping, I was just concerned that the eggs might break if I tried carrying too many cartons of them at once. It seemed like more hands would save unneccesary trips back and forth.

What kind of tradition are we talking about here?

... [Awkward.]

Painting eggs.

Painting eggs?

Yes.

...well, naturally you have to boil them first so they'll harden, but that's the basic principle.

I think it had something to do with a rabbit. The whole holiday and its traditions, from what I've heard about them, sound rather convoluted. I'm not sure my sources had their facts straight, either.

...Easter?

It's a holiday celebrated on another world. Most of the events that occur on the island are timed to holidays I'd never heard of before.

I thought I'd mention them just in case something peculiar happens.

Huh. What's it all about?

I have heard various and unrelated stories about it...

One involved rabbits and colored eggs, while a more serious account claims that a god sent his son to live among mortals and save humanity from its transgressions.

Oh, are you talking about the Easter bunny? That's a fun tradition. I always liked the chocolate bunnies they sold in stores.

The Easter bunny? That may be correct.I can't say that I'm overly familiar with it, however.

Chocolate... bunnies? They must be a delicacy in your world.

((OOC: Yes, she's imagining an actual rabbit dipped in chocolate. Literal.))

I'm not surprised. It's really an Earth tradition - and American to boot. My family's Easter was a lot more solemn.

But they're amazing. Milagro and I used to always bet on who'd eat our ears first.

Earth is a planet, correct? So then I'm assuming America is a country of some sort.

By more solemn, do you mean perhaps the beliefs relating to a god and his son?

[Feels a little... um.] Oh, the poor-- ah, that is, yes, I see. That's certainly a unique tradition, although I suppose it isn't far removed from a fancy rappig dish.
