Oh, this is great -- particularly Sloane's reasons -- rationalizations? -- for why Sydney's recruitment is good for the Bristows.

Oh he's rationalizing like hell. But that's what he does, all the time. Mind you, he happpens to be right in this particular case - working together as agents does bring Jack and Sydney together whereas otherwise they might have ended up talking only via Christmas cards. Which doesn't make Sloane's actions better.
