I don't understand why the Birthday Paradox is a paradox at all.

The birthday paradox isn't really a paradox at all as you said, but as described in the Wikipedia article, it is the best word for the anomaly. Human intellect tells us that the percentage of two people having the same birthday in a room with 23 people would be a small chance, but it is in fact above 50% that two people will have the same birthday. So, maybe it's not really a paradox, but just, weird. But birthday weird doesn't sound as cool.
