Absolutely gorgeous. The symbolism of the little notebook is just heart-wrenching. And this: "This is the most comforting threat John can ever remember hearing." Lovely. This one will stick with me for a good long while. Thanks for posting.

What lovely, understated sadness from John. And such perfect characterisations. This just sums up the dynamic between these two:
