I'm beginning to feel like I'm the only one that can't stand to watch ads where they have animated animals engaging in various activities. I'm sure the advertisers see them as cute and clever. I think they're just weird.
I've posted about this before:
that strange orangina ad huh...the original vid got removed for violating terms of use. Here's the ad:

NB: I've softened a tiny bit towards this one now; I can watch it if I concentrate really hard on looking for the smart little film refs rather than viewing it passively.
I also dislike ads where they have cows with male voices and udders...
Anthropomorphism - the term sticks in my head and I'm using it now for purely pretentious reasons. I think I've got anthropomorphismphobia, or something. Yeah, I know, I need to get over it. I really try, y'know, but they just keep making more of them!!!. Is it just me, then?
I don't mind ones like this, though:

And one of my favourite ads of all times involved a pair of dancing hedgehogs advertising weedkiller (which I can't find anywhere) so I'm thinking my gripe is with ads where animals are in some way sexualised, or something like that. I have issues, clearly. :s
Hippos. Sloshing about in chocolate milk in a synchronised way. To Terence Trent D'Arby. Who the hell thought that up? Twisted.
Cos it's topical, and tangientally linked, I also want to say I find the
Pablo the drug mule dog (NB - link to article where you can find the ad - the scenes are quite strong so I want you to be sure, not just randomly click, k?) ad disturbing, but for very different reasons. However, I can see the merit in this one. I get the point and I understand why they're using the dog. Somehow, though, Pablo creates controversy, while the others don't. But it's good, right? Pablo making people discuss drugs issues, that's a positive thing. The ad draws attention to itself, gets people thinking. See, different?
I need to think more about this, get a grip on it all and what I think about it, cos I went in a direction I really wasn't expecting there.
