I am so enamoured of the Merlin fandom right now. It's (still) all shiny and new. The writing and graphics are amazing - I'm so impressed

That is the glory of Merlin fandom which I really like. We got it to a certain extent with Robin Hood fandom too, because there was the same tendency to just ship EVERYONE with EVERYONE and OT3s sprung up like mushrooms all over the place so people quite happily slid from Allan/Will to Allan/Marian/Guy to Guy/Marian to Marian/Djaq to Djaq/Will/Allan and back again. But there wasn't as much potential for femmeslash in Robin Hood because Djaq and Marian exchanged about five lines and shared maybe three scenes in the ENTIRE of the two series that both women were on it for. I have to say I've never encountered a fandom where m/m writers are so happy and could so easily switch to writing f/f pairings. I suppose it helps that Morgana/Gwen has just as much subtext as Merlin/Arthur, despite the relationships having completely different dynamics. The writers on this show are working hard to give the girls an actual, functioning friendship, which is SO refreshing - and has left us with this adorable girl!crush situation that Gwen has going on

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's noticed that trend for the m/m writers shifting so smoothly into writing Morgana/Gwen. Such a high standard, too
