It's today... I haven't missed it in decades, until now. The Dragon Boat Festival.

There are people here with boats, right? I know Sweden was building one and there's that pirate ship. They wouldn't be any good for a race, though. [Might go hang out wherever the pirate ship is docked anyway, though.]

While I'm on the topic, does anyone know what kind ( Read more... )

sweden, i swear i'm on hiatus, public holidays are best, homesick, just a simple fisherman

Maybe if you ask nicely, the scientists will give you two or three boats to race!

I'd still need ten or twelve people to race. Way more if we're doing it properly.

There are a lot of people in Discedo! It sounds like a fun thing to do, so I'm sure tons of people would sign up!

I suppose if we can get two boats and crew them, it doesn't matter if they're actual dragon boats or not...

...how b-big do the b-boats have to be?

It depends. Dragon boats are a kind of long boat, normal ones usually carry around 22 people. They can get really big.

Fishing junks are smaller.

... I did not realize you got into Dragon Boat Racing, Hong Kong-kun.

[nnngh international sport in 1976 makes me think he might've been less interested before then. tell me if that conflicts. then again, Japan just kinda ignores this, I think. |D]

[Either that or with all the line facing and silence, no one noticed the little kid looking longingly out at the water...]

Tuen Ng Jit is one of the biggest days on my calender. Chek chue is probably packed right now.

[Running around trying to help all the men get the boats into the water... Begging to be allowed to hang off the back...]

I wasn't actually planning on doing a race, it's a bit late for that and we don't have the boats. [Just kind of wanted to because homesickness is a terrible thing, even when half of home has come with you.]
