yesterday was a banner day - not only did i finally get into grad school and therefore back into the NPS, but also the NPS saw the demise of its fearless leader, Gale Norton. frankly, i don't care why she quit (though the abramoff scandal is delicious), i'm just glad she's gone ( Read more... )

at uconn, which makes me academically happy but i think might make me socially/culturally bored. a little bird told me you'll be at columbia next year - if you need help in ny apartment hunting, feel free to use me as a resource, both to scout and to provide a base of operations if you visit.

A little bird, huh? Well, actually I'm not yet sure where I will be, and as for Columbia, there seems to be an admissions snafu that has yet to be sorted out. Namely, their admissions dept said I was wait-listed and their fin-aid dept said I was admitted...crazy academics have no idea what's going on!! Anyway, we'll see what they say I suppose, and I'm still waiting on letters from 2 schools, so no decisions have been made yet. But if I'm in NYC, I will certainly be *using* you as a resource ;-)

i haven't even gotten a letter from UCONN yet either. i just got an email from the prof i want to work with saying that i'd get a letter soon and to please give him a call. a bit sketchy but also comforting. would you be at the columbia foreign policy school, where Beales almost went?

What program are you going to be a part of? When do you start? Do you need help moving? May we throw you a party this summer? May I steal your apartment if/when I move to NYC? Inquiring minds wish to know.
