When mamma used to talk about dying and heaven I always thought it would be more interesting…then this. Not that I’m one for adventure or anything of the sort, but this is dull and boring. Even for me

Time is time again. When a bloke like me ends up in a place like this you gotta wonder what exactly I did to atone? Seems like it wasn't quite enough if you ask me. Sure that ponce had a good century longer to wrack up his torture toll but didn't mean me saving the world all of once should put me here right?
Not that I'd tell that to anyone who asked. And it wasn't like I was one for the complaining. And I was mighty glad I'd found Tara here, or she'd found me was more like it.
Wondered to myself everyday if all these things are really happening, or if I did make my way down to the fiery depths of hell and maybe this little prelude to it was just a form of the torture I was sure to be inflicted upon?
I didn't care to think about that much, but I noticed Tara was also lost in thought so I nudged her foot.
“Give me…two cards.”I shook my h'ead and smiled at her. She used to fool me with that innocent talk, like she didn't know what she was doin' but I knew better by now
( ... )
"Come now pet, that look doesn't work on me anymore."
I sighed dramaticly. "I guess you've learned all my charms Spike...Ok, almost all of them." I blushed deeply and took the cards from him, ducking behind my hair as I looked them over. I had nothin, ok well I had two pair but that wasn't much. There was something knawing at the back of my mind and I just couldn't put my finger on it.
"Raise you..." I looked around, I had two chips left. I needed three to call. "Ok, I'll raise you my last two chips and...Something you want. I'll umm conjur up something for you...maybe The Bronze even." I looked up and smiled at him.
I was glad I had company and I wasn't alone with my thoughts. One thing that was great with Spike was he didn't want to mention sunnydale or the ones we left behind anymore then I did. So we never did. The past was past, the living was doing just that. We were moving on, together...just not together.
"I guess you've learned all my charms Spike...Ok, almost all of them."
Her face turned a deep shade of red, and I couldn't help but smirk at her. Always was getting herself inta these little snits of embarrassment, couldn't see why though. It's not like she hadn't put me in my place a few times before. I seem to remember an incident with cramps, but that was something we didn't talk about.
We never did talk about sunnydale. Was right nice in my opinion, rather just go on with living ... or what ever it was that we were doing up here.
"Not Bloody likely pet." I grinned again.
"Raise you... Ok, I'll raise you my last two chips and...Something you want. I'll umm conjur up something for you...maybe The Bronze even."
I chuckled and looked at her.
"No need, I know your good for'it pet. I'll just call this hand."
"No need, I know your good for'it pet. I'll just call this hand."
I shook my head at him. He was nice to me with cards, I guess because nobody was around to show him that he was being too soft. "You know Spike, better be careful, someone might see you've gone all soft..." I grinned at him and splayed out my cards to him. "Two pair." I shrugged, it's like one of the worst hands I've gotten.
I had a better hand at Buffy's party...
No, I won't think of that.
I laid back and looked up...at nothing... Turning I looked at him. "I'm bored, like m-more then usual." I laughed and looked over at him. "Anything special you want to do? You know I can d-do a lot here. Could conjure up another meal from The Bronze..." Although the indigestion from them are worse then when you get them from there. It's quite strange.
I knew she was right. But that didn't mean I was suppose to be here.
"How bout we call it a happy accident and leave it be love?"
She looked at me, one of those looks I'd only ever seen from Dru, and even so with Tara it was different. She didn't look at me, she looked in me, and I wasn't so sure how much I liked it. Too raw, got too much I don't want her to see in'side. Don't want for her to know some things, could make this complicated.
"Is that so? Good, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else with anyone else either. No worries, we'll be here a long time and be together a long time." I giggled. You'll be so sick of me in five years."
Not Bloody likely. She kissed my forehead. It's something she did when she was trying to make a point.
"Trust me pet, if you can stand me for five years that would be a miracle. Everyone gets tired of me eventually."
"So, what's tonight's entertainment?"I shrugged. Didn't really want to look in on the nibblet, she was too fond of those italians

"Trust me pet, if you can stand me for five years that would be a miracle. Everyone gets tired of me eventually."
I shook my head. "Never. I lived in the Summers house Spike. I think if I can deal with that I can deal with anything." I laughed and leaned back, looking up into the oblivion of nothing. Same thing we always stared at.
"We could look in on that ponce Angel. See if he's gone out of his bloody mind running that place."
I laughed at him. "You love seeing him miserable, even with a soul. Just like you Spike, he deserves a bit of happy." I chewed my bottom lip and remembered something Willow once told me. "Ok, not too happy. But still, he shouldn't be miserable all the time."
Closing my eyes for a moment I started to feel funny. Very dizzy and disorented, I felt like I did when Glory took my sanity for all those months. I tried to blink it away because I didn't want to worry Spike.
"Never. I lived in the Summers house Spike. I think if I can deal with that I can deal with anything."
That was true.
"You weren't there with all those sodding slayers though pet. You think living with Red, slayer and the nibblet? Try a couple dozen teenyboppers, Anya, Andrew and Faith. Near the end that house was bloody exhausting to walk inta."
She chuckled.
"You love seeing him miserable, even with a soul. Just like you Spike, he deserves a bit of happy. Ok, not too happy. But still, he shouldn't be miserable all the time."It was true, my life's goal was to see that wanker miserable. He messed with me for decades, I could wish him a crappy existance if I wanted to
( ... )
I opened my eyes slowly and saw him staring down at me, I couldn't help but grin at the light the bounced off of him and how blue his eyes looked. He often caught me staring and I'd make up some excuse that I thought I saw something or...something else that was usually really lame.
"Y-yeah...I'm ok." I licked my lips and shook that feeling off of me and I concentrated on Angel and like a glamor him and what was going on around him appeared. He often liked to look in on Angel and it was the easiest for me to bring up, almost like he was on speed dial or something. "There..."
"You put people on pedistals William they're bound to fall."
I chuckled, that was right. But didn't really have her on a pedestal.
"Don't think that's what it is pet, think I just see you like you see me."
"Well I guess when nobody is looking you've the time to see. I've h-had a lot of practice. Twenty years plus actually..."
I gave her a nod. Never knew much about her past, she talked about her mum a bit but never anyone else in her family. Probably a bunch of wankers I'd want to kill if I found out what they'd done t'her.
"Know what you mean."
I watched her blush, hadn't blushed like that since I went about teasing her a bit ago. Couldn't tell her I wasn't really teasin' then. Trying to cover it up with teasing, but that was something else. Couldn't think bout things like that.
"Well...it's not. You're stuck with me William. I kinda like being stuck here with you...then again I don't see it as being stuck..."I chuckled
( ... )
I smiled up at him and at his words. At some point and time when neither of us were looking we became friends, close friends. I guess when you spend three months plus together constantly that happens.
I'm glad it did.
"You know, I don't think I would either." I smiled but it quickly turned into a cringe when I started to feel weird again. The room started spinning and there was a dull ache that formed behind my eyes.
I've never felt a pain like this before.
I swallowed hard and tried to shake it off and pretend like everything was ok. "So." I forced a smile. "Who do you want to look on now?"
I gave her a nod. Knowing she was sincere, we were companions now, nothing more. I had to keep telling myself that. She was Red's girl, I'd seen the way she looked at the witch, how the witch went crazy when she was moving on. Couldn't compete with things like that. Soulmate destiny type things.
I watched her, something was wrong. Didn't like feeling like something was wrong.
"You ok pet?"
She kind of shook me off and looked down.
"So. Who do you want to look on now?"
I shook my head.
"Guess we could check on the bit an' hope she's not busy with some italian kid I'll try to haunt later."
I nodded. "Ok, Dawnie it is." I closed my eyes and concentrated on Dawn, trying to get a focus of where she was, I opened my eyes slowly and smiled when I saw her.
She's grown up so much. Then again I've been dead...gone...for two years.
I started to say something when I felt the pain behind my eyes again, harder and more intense. The image of Dawn was starting to blur and wave as the pain got stronger. Tears formed in my eyes it was so intense and I felt myself crumple on the floor, holding my head as if I could will the pain to go away.
"S-spike...what's going on..." My voice was low and I knew I sounded broken in a way.
