I'm working on this Hamlet paper so I'm reading this uppity paper from some peer-reviewed journal and having a pretty negative toward the author already.

So I come across this phrase, "catachretic structure." So I'm like, WTF does catachretic mean?

So I go to dictionary.com, where I'm told there's no such word. But, dictionary.com asks me, did you mean "catachrestic"? Sure, I answer.

Catachresis: The misapplication of a word or phrase, as the use of blatant to mean “flagrant.”

How amusing!

And on another note, I just noticed this: doesn't blatant MEAN flagrant, or about the same?

I hate English *grumble grumble*
