Regarding the trippiness - wow.

Regarding the elitist ballet dancers - That bites. I have so many issues with ballet, its just too unnatural. But at least the guys are cute!

Haha that wasn't that trippy in comparison to a few other things I've done. And "modern dance" is supposed to be a departure from the sort of strict rules of ballet and jazz and such. It's supposed to emphasize natural human movement. But from what I've seen the people who teach and (can afford to pay for private lessons in order to) learn it are sooo culturally biased it's not even funny.
