The republican I think you're thinking of is Reverend Keith Butler, who sadly lost the primary. Debbie's opponent is Mike Bouchard, Sheriff of Oakland County. Rev. Butler endorsed him after losing the primary, and he can't possibly be worse for MI than Debbie was/is.

i'm constantly wondering about this (largely republican) internets meme that says 'well, they can't possibly be any worse than...' or, alternatly 'well, yha, our guys are bad, but at leat they're not the other guys..'

i'm thinking we need a vote of no confidence

My statement in that case was meant to imply that I simply don't know very much about Bouchard other than the facts stated. It was not to suggest that he's in any way incompetent.

Debbie, on the other hand, has stated opinions I know I disagree with, which is in no small part why I voted for Spence Abraham when the seat last came up for election.

As to the meme, if the democrats weren't so bad that mediocre RINOs are still better on most issues, it would likely go away. Either way, the frog is still being cooked, but a slightly slower increase of the temperature gives us more time to maybe stop the cooking.
