As for the ambushers, they currently are in combat (Ding!) in darkness (Ding!) by an enemy who is charging in a vehicle (Ding!) who has clearly superior mobility (Ding!).
That's 4 Threat Levels. Had the machinegunner not been run over, he'd be suffering 2 more TLs: 1 for being attacked, and another 1 for the attack being with lethal force!
I've got to hand it to the authors, they made a system in this and in psychological damage that is fun to play without being trite. It makes you think a bit.
