Not a fan.

I’ve been to Las Vegas twice before, so it’s not a brand-new experience. However, the first time was for WriterCon in 2004, the second just a day trip with guys in my Army Reserve unit after we’d finished up a three-week exercise at the National Training Center. Here, now …

Well, it’s mostly annoying. Traffic is very heavy, which I remember, but never had to fully deal with before; the second trip, I rode with somebody else, and the first I stayed at the hotel where WriterCon was being held and made any explorations on foot for places within walking distance. Everything costs ridiculously, which again isn’t surprising - and I honestly have more spare money now than I did then - but I just plain dislike it.

Susan herself is looking forward to leaving Vegas and never returning; she doesn’t hate the place, she’ll just be glad to be gone from it. That pretty much matches my feeling. Probably our disgruntlement has been aggravated by the fact that we came here specifically to see our son, and we haven’t had much of that; he’s here for business, and his business is keeping him occupied. Should be better tomorrow, but then he’s leaving tomorrow evening. So we paid for three days’ stay - at inflated Vegas prices - and may get to spend a solid part of one of those days with him.

I know, unimaginable hardship. That’s where we are, though.
