A Compendium of Geektasticness

I went to w00tstock last night. As much as I don't use the term "WOOT" or "w00t" or "W00T" I still knew this would be a great time. In fact, instead of clicking on the official site, I recommend Wil Wheaton's post. It'll give you a better feel.

It inspired me to attempt to aggregate some links to geekiness I appreciate in a space my personal friends ( Read more... )

Some folks flew in from Texas to see it. It would be worth a trip. Can you get to the one in Chicago? If not, it's all cc licensed (another thing I should list above) so recordings of it should start popping up around the web.

Maybe y'all can make a Seattle trip coincide with w00tstock 3.0? (Hoping there will be a 3.0).

I recommend Dominion ... haven't tried it two-player yet, but it should be fun.

Wait, you didn't run into Set at the house? They've had a copy for years. astra_nomer kicks butt and takes names.

Paul and Storm are half of the old Da Vinci's Notebook, which has some amusing songs as well.

These are not all new things, neither is the list complete. I've been playing Set since high school - my bro was part of a "varsity" Set team at his. He plays with metasets and such, which is fun until you're allowed to pick up 4 cards, knowing what the fifth should be to create two complete sets sharing that fifth.

DAVINCI'S NOTEBOOK? REALLY? ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, that would make the showing of the film short "Movie Title" at w00tstock that much more appropriate. http://www.cracked.com/video_18156_a-trailer-every-academy-award-winning-movie-ever.html

Whittie friends reading this: in my Senior year the TestosterTones sang "Title of the Song" which we all loved, but I was astouded having heard th original by DaVinci's Notebook back at MIT, and had it on my favorites playlist.

Okay, if you're doing Doctor Who you *have* to get Torchwood in there. John Barrowman...*swoon*....
