I was making my way down the main streets of my city, putting up posters at obliging establishments for Karori Wildlife Sanctuary. I only made it half way through my route because I stopped in a book store to put a poster up

There are Leonard Cohen fans near me... I shall take note of your finds. Matisse is good, but Renoir or Van Gogh would have been a definite win.

I'm not a huge fan of Matisse, but he did a lot of paintings of dancing ladies, and other racy subjects. Still, it's not who I would have picked either. There's apparently a series of artist/poem books of which this was just one part.

And speaking of such things, I once saw a children's picture book version of Joni Mitchell's Chelsea Morning which was lovely.

I looked up the Matisse illustrated Dance Me book on Amazon and got cold feet. Matisse was less interesting than I remembered. Oh well.
