I just heard Parkway Speakeasy - an Oakland icon - is closing.

Just a reminder that no one can ever truly go back.

Indeed. I'd say you could get at least 3 jars of peanut better for the price of a movie ticket here in Wellington. You could argue that the average cost of making a Hollywood movie has gone up faster than the cost of making a jar of peanut butter. But that's because of all the high-tech special effects that go into movies these days - and high cost of employing well known actors. But in my opinion, neither of these factors are important for making a movie good, let alone great. And sometimes that stuff just gets in the way.

Yeah, where movie tickets cost $15 and there is no cheap second-run theatre!
On the other hand, theatres do $10 Tuesdays, and most of them sell beer and wine. And in Wellington, there are more film festivals than I can count.
