I agree with socialism, limited by by the wealth of a society. If we were to have a source of unlimited power, and machines that can make anything we need then everyone should have anything they want without having to work. Even the US is nowhere near this. This is why I view socialism particularly bad in poor countries.

I believe in wealth re-distribution through progressive taxation because people wouldn't have that money if they didn't live in our country which has protected and nurtured them. I believe in socialism for creating roads, police, education, and other infrastructure.

I believe everyone should have access to food, board, and healthcare (unsure as how to achieve this). I believe that we are approaching a level of technology and wealth that this last point will be feasible soon.

Past these points and others that I may have missed, socialism takes some concepts too far.

Even if we had a method of producing food spontaneously and free energy, I would hope that we would never get to the point of not working. Work is a surprisingly important part of our lives. We need to have responsibilities, and accomplishments in order to function properly ( ... )

By not working, I meant no one having to farm, make clothes, serve food, etc. This would free up your time to pursue art, science, education, etc ( ... )

"If only this were the case. I have two arguments against this. 1. Inheritance (where many-most of the top 10-15% wealthiest people got their money) 2. It takes money to make money. In each of your above examples the individual was required to have some money to invest (in the IP case, the money to pay for food, housing, healthcare while working on their IP ( ... )

I think it's funny that you like and dislike the political parties for the inverse reasons I do.

I don't really care about the Democrats' economics. I think it horrid that there are families in America who can't go to the doctor because their lame big box employers won't buy them insurance and private insurance is so blasted expensive they can't afford it. There's no safety net, and business isn't going to build us one.

I don't mind democrats except where they support abortion and same-sex marriage and persecute religious people. Which is why I have these attacks of conscience every time I try to vote.
