Quote some lyrics that you love:
I tend to be more into the music than the lyrics, but here are a few I like:
"She was married when we first met, soon to be divorced" (and most of the rest of the song)
-- Bob Dylan, "Tangled Up in Blue"
"I saw her from the corner when she turned and doubled back / And started walkin' toward a coffee-colored Cadillac / I was pushin' through the crowd to get to where she's at / And I was campaign shouting like a southern diplomat"
-- Chuck Berry, "Nadine"
"Across the street, a neon sign / 'All you can eat for a dollar ninety-nine' / That old stew is the baddest in the land / But one dollar's worth / Was all than I could stand // Sometimes... (Sometimes.. )/ Sometimes bad is bad / I said, cool this rumor (Awww-ooh) / Sometimes, bad is bad (Aw do-do-do-do-do-do-wah, wah)"
-- Huey Lewis and the News, "Bad is Bad
"She hates her life, she hates her skin, she even hates her friends / She's try'n' to hold onto a reputation she can't mend / There's a small chance / We could fail / But the last time / Someone was always there for bail"
-- Toad the Wet Sprocket, "Fall Down"
"A tournament, a tournament, a tournament of lies / Offer me solutions, offer me alternatives / But I decline // It's the end of the world as we know it / It's the end of the world as we know it / It's the end of the world as we know it / And I feel fine"
-- R.E.M., "It's the End of the World as we Know It"
"This here is the place where I will be staying / There isn't a number, you can call the payphone / Let it ring a long, long, long, long time / If I don't pick up, hang up / Call back, let it ring some more / Ohhhhh / If I don't pick up, pick up / The sidewinder sleeps, sleeps, sleeps in a coil"
"There are scratches all around the the coin slot / Like a heartbeat, baby, trying to get up / But this machine can only / Swallow money / You can't lay a patch by computer design / It's just a lot of stupid, stupid signs / Tell her / Tell her she can kiss my ass then laugh / And say that you were only kidding / That way she'll know that it's really really really really me"
-- R.E.M., "The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonite"
(I love these kind of R.E.M. lyrics)
"Games people play, you take it or you leave it / Things that they say, honor bright / If I promised you the moon and the stars, would you believe it / Games people play, in the middle of the night // Games people play, you take it or you leave it / Things that they say, just don't make it right / If I'm telling you the truth right now, would you believe it / Games people play, in the middle of the night"
-- Alan Parsons Project, "Games People Play"
"Headed out to San Fransisco / Definitely not L.A."
-- The Replacements, "Left of the Dial"
"In the garage, I feel safe / No one cares about my ways / In the garage where I belong / No one hears me sing this song"
-- Weezer, "In the Garage"
