So...to revisit an old topic...what are your thoughts concerning the Brazillian that was held down while he was shot in the head 7 times in London? Probably they were just trying to restrain him. I realize that they thought he was a terrorist...but it sure sucks that he wasnt huh? thoughts ( Read more... )

Even if they feel the need to kill...8 shots and 7 in the head...is excessive....say nothing of the fact that they held him down while they shot him in the head.

Insanity.

But then I'm against killing people in any way.

They didn't even give the guy a chance! And they come up with some excuse that may sound good but c'mon things could have been dealt with differently in this case.

The loss of this man's life was tragic, and anyone who knows me would call me a bleeding heart...(I stopped for a turtle on the highway yesterday!) But...The man should have stopped running. If he didn't understand the policemen's commands, he should have realized that when men with guns and badges are chasing you, you respond...And not by running. I'm trying to take into consideration that the police he was used to dealing with were generally corrupt. But he was in England, not his home country. Perhaps seven bullets was excessive, but the blame is not with the English police. They did their duty.

If this man had been a terrorist, what would our reaction have been?

My prayers are with his family as they grieve this innocent man's demise.

How about plain clothes cops? With guns drawn? I am not sure if you would even recognize they are cops.

They were plain clothes....

And if men in plain clothes with guns were chasing you...you might run.

His fear of police seems to have been realized. He wasnt even who they were after.

I agree that the police must have been very scared to have done what they did in front of so many witnesses though.

Its the same problem witht he cops shooting 41 times in NY. They have guns...and they are police...but no uniform. Its tough to be recognized so readily with no uniform. Especially if your running at someone with a gun.

it really bothers me that we live in an era when police brutality is defended and written into public policy.
