I think perhaps you are being a little insensitive to those with illnesses and those who have lost loved ones to illnesses.

It really bugs me when people say that the reason people aren't healed is because they don't have enough faith or that they didn't rely enough on the Holy spirit.

I've seen many miracles where people have been healed even after the medical field told them to start counting their days.

But I've also lost loved ones who believed and still died.

I would agree that illness can many times have nothing to do with our faith or our beliefs. My dad died of Heard disease and he believed till the end that a miracle would come ( ... )

I think you can believe in healing and still use herbs and things. If God created them to be medicinal, then perhaps that is part of healing.. being wise enough to take care of yourself.

In the same regard, if people were created with a mind that was able to come up with scientific thoughts and create medicines, perhaps that was part of God's plan for healing as well.

4 They traveled from Mount Hor along the route to the Red Sea, [c] to go around Edom. But the people grew impatient on the way; 5 they spoke against God and against Moses, and said, "Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the desert? There is no bread! There is no water! And we detest this miserable food ( ... )

I agree about herbs in general...I think many of our maladies...especially here in North America are caused by what we eat or dont eat.

I honestly don't know you, so I don't really know exactly from what perspective you're coming. However, I felt that I needed to respond to this post, just because it sort of struck a nerve ( ... )

At some level I have a bias against both medicine and surgery....some of my bias has nothing to do with faith healing, jesus, or the bible. While growing up...I was an epileptic. I was medicated for epilepsy. I was on a huge amount of dilantin as a youth. It used to make me sleep like 12 hours a day....and I hated life. At some point I realized that the disease was easier to live with than the cure ( ... )

One word: BALANCE! First of all, I think the most important thing is that we seek God for healing according to the Bible... this is first and foremost regardless of what action or inaction we take regarding our physical healing (or emotional healing for that matter)... it is not a clear-cut recipie for success... that is the beauty of it... the equation is not math, but rather a heartfelt persuit of a life in relationship and pleasing to God... it is both true that God's word tells us that if we ask we will recieve healing (just like Jesus did, and to even greater extents John 14:12), and true that Paul recommends that Timothy take some wine as remedy for his stomach (1Tim5:23)... Jesus Himself spoke giving instant healing... and in another instance mixed dirt and spit, and after putting the mud on the blind man's eyes, and after the man washed his eyes off he could see (John 9:6)... sometimes healing took some action, somtimes not... but when I go to the doctor, or take a pill, or herb how many times did I forget to seek God for ( ... )

Andrew, I know I already posted a huge long rambling reply (under another reply so look for it if it hasn't been sent to you already) but I just wanted to ask what the book was that you read. Just curious.

I have been reading some good books of late:)

Gods Generals by Roberts Liardon is the one that brought the issue up in my mind.

I recomend it....its a life changer. Liardon helps give a perspective on the great healers, evangelists, and men and women of God of the recent past. Like the last 150 years. He was talking about John Dowie and Mariah Woodworth Etter....when I had these specific issues come to mind.

If your looking for a book list I have read over 150 books about or by healers. I read about and from the prophets as well. Books change my life and help mentor me when I have no one where I am.
