I agree. Even when James and I started dating I still couldn't understand him a lot (still can't sometimes) because of his mutilated accent and mumbling. So I'd motion him to look me in the eye when he's talking and it forced better communication, and more meaningful, because we'd have a harder time understanding each other ( I get mumbly too). So I really do think its true.
