on measuring up

It is hard, very hard, to be satisfied with one's own face-up work when the only other non-default dolls in the house are painted by the likes of Sairin, Uyuchagongbang, SDink, LynR, Hoshino Clinic and Nocturnal Doll....but then again, I don't exactly sit around practicing painting eyebrow hairs while I'm watching all of that TV do I? Not sure why

Ohhhhhh, that exhibit sounds AMAZING!!!! I adore the art and clothing from that movement/era, and to see it in person must be divine!!!

(And, yes -- I expected to be FAR better at face-ups than I actually was/am. I can paint portraits, I can capture resemblances . . . but painting on a doll's face is different, and you can spoil the entire thing with a bad blast of MSC or a false flick of the paintbrush. It's actually a lot easier to fix your mistakes in 2D art, in most mediums other than charcoal. Someday, I'd like to devote myself to really teaching myself the craft, but I love the work of so many artists that it makes me incredibly happy to have their little masterworks sitting elegantly around my house!)
