OMGWTFBBQ?! I'm glad you and Jake have decided to cut her off - that is a really inappropriate level of interference and second-guessing, and that shit is the last thing you need. Her behavior has been seriously out of line.
For what it's worth, my impression of the baby shower was that you were genuinely appreciative of every gift given to you. I don't remember if you said the specific words "thank you" every time, but you admired everything and held stuff up to be sure people could see, and seemed happy and touched by every present. You were cheerful and friendly all afternoon even though it was hot and you were, you know, pregnant. I think Syd lets her own issues cloud her perceptions.
Thanks! It was just a real mind fuck for me. Of course she had no idea that I had actually dreaded that part of the shower. I'm not very good at squealing over things and I was very concerned that my laid back attitude about most everything would leak over and I wouldn't show enough emotion over the gifts. (I'm only just now getting into baby outfits and going 'Oh how cute!')
Turns out that she kicked Jake's dad out for unrelated reasons so now I don't have to worry about her unless they get back together which seems unlikely at this point (though always possible). I feel bad for his dad since this was a long term relationship, but I'm thrilled for me :)
Jake has, as usual, been amazingly supportive and he actually wanted to cut her off a long time ago because of how she made me feel. I said no, because I didn't want to cause family drama.
