This story is pretty sad, apparently there is a drug (dichloroacetate) that is pretty effective treating most kinds of cancer, but it isn't promoted because guess what? Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. It is obviously an exaggeration of what many people fear will happen to women's rights, but if you consider what a women living in some of the patriarchal societies humans create, it is not too far off.
