after a conversation last week, i've been thinking about what the one unifying human emotion is.

someone told me loneliness, and i think i agree.

i was having a conversation with someone at camp my last summer on team and we started talking about this. i was dealing with issues of lacking a deeper relationship with fellow team. she brought up the point that once we get to being lonely, we really begin to embrace it. we like to identify with it. it is sort of like a security blanket. it feels good because it is so familiar and easy. it is involving yourself with community that is difficult.
i miss you buddy. hope we get to hang out sometime.

yeah man, there's a chapter in blue like jazz about it too i think. it just seems like community is the one thing that's so rad when you have it, but when it's not so accessible you forget to look for it or pursue it.

in the original conversation, i was telling some girl that i thought depravity was the unifying human condition, and i still think it is. but loneliness might be the emotion that most influences us.

i'll try and make a trip up some time but i'm not sure when it may be. tell the wifey i say hello.
