Anita found the book about to fall off of the shelf. At first when she picked it up she didn't think anything about it. Then she noticed the name was new and the publication date ( Read more... )

The bookshelf had been overwhelmingly obnoxious the past few days. Rather than the usual self help books and porn it'd been spitting randomly at him for the past year, it kept giving him random paperbacks. At first he hadn't given them that much attention, the covers alone had given him the idea he was dealing with chick books, but at one point when he'd flipped to the back cover out of sheer boredom and seen his girlfriend's name, he was at a loss.

He probably shouldn't have looked at them. It was probably like reading somone's diary, only a bit worse because it wasn't just what they thought about their life, it was their life. Anita's life. So, okay, he didn't really read them. Just flipped through them half wondering if there were any lesbian threesomes she hadn't mentioned, but instead, he found a lot more. A fucking hell of a lot more ( ... )

"Hi." She smiled marking her page standing up. At least she was smiling until she noticed the serious look on his face and the book in his hand. Well, shit. She should have expected this, but really she thought even the bookshelf couldn't be that cruel. Boy was she wrong.

When her face fell from a smile to a look of concern, he forced an expression that was a little less 'I'm sorry your grandma died, but can I have her car?' and tried to look a little more reassuring. He didn't want to freak her out, he just wanted to figure out where her head was at about some things.

"Hey, it's okay. I...I just want to talk to you. About something. Okay?"

She took a deep breath nodding. She was telling herself it could be way worse, and trying to figure out what she should say. She didn't do 'talking' very well, but this was important.

She sat by down gesturing to a nearby chair. "What is it?" At least her voice sounded strong, like herself.
