Broken phone story.

So anyway, my corp plan provides for broken phone replacement, but I'm not sure if breakage due to malicious abuse is covered. I got this stupid brick of a windows mobile phone and finally 'accidentally' broke it. I must say it was rather durable hardware and took quite a few accidents in stride. So how do I explain the damage? Give me a story.

you happened to be moving some boxes full of bricks. your phone happened to be sitting on top of said boxes. as you were moving the boxes, the phone began to fall. in an attempt to prevent the phone from hitting the ground, you lost grip on the boxes of bricks and they all came tumbling down. on top of your phone. oops.

I like that. I'll give it a shot. Worst case scenario, they don't give me another phone. THEN I CAN'T BE ON CALL!!! Wait, that's the best case scenario.

I worked for a cellular provider a couple years ago. I'd take calls like yours all day. Somebody would call up with some clearly hilarious and fabricated story that was so well explained that it didn't happen. You can smell 'em a mile away. We'd politely ask them if they had purchased insurance for the phone, which covers them for freak accidents and even malicious destruction. They'd say no, they did not purchase insurance. And we'd hang up with them crying and us laughing.

In short, if there's physical damage, nobody will usually willingly replace it. If it's all non-liquid computer malfunction, or a 'known bug' that popped up, you're going to get it replaced.

Next time you hate your phone, talk to me first. We'll break it in a way that they'll accept.

Nah, they'll take it. The freak insurance is part of the corp plan.
