I'm curious why politicians that are running in the primaries think that this is what the American public will want to hear, why some of them think that these kind of things will get them elected ( Read more... )

If Huckabee is elected, we better run for the hills. People will come with torches. And Bibles.

Well, it appears that Mitt Romney was elected in Michigan's primary. Though, Huckabee has been nominated in one state and Mccain in another. Romney's total is 2 states right now.
Clinton has two states and Obama has one. (there was some weird political snafu where Obama didn't actually run in the Michigan primary due to sanctions or something because Michigan had their primaries earlier than other states wanted us to.

That's what I heard about Romney. But...Michigan's a Republican state.

well, not exactly. From what I understand, we tend to elect republicans for house and senate, more or less, but we elect democratic presidents just barely.

Jesus Christ. Everybody knows it's 100% inappropriate to mix religion and politics. *Shudders. That quote makes me scared like I'm watching a car crash in slow motion.

i hope the hijoputa wins!!! I hope he wins and then maybe people will be forced to get their shit together, organize, and confront power. Things have to get a lot worse before they get any better.

If Obama wins, people won't have "anything to be mad about" and the terrible system we live in will just be prolonged more and more, as each of us live our lives under the illusion that we're free, rotting away in front of television or the bottle after a week of 9 to 5, underpaid and meaningless.

Maybe if someone who doesn't try to hide the fact that he's a Fascist wins the election, we will be forced to take our freedom, and to create, from the ground up, a new society.

(okay obviously I don't REALLY believe that, but, I think it's something to think about....)
